Tough Environment -- Tough Label

Inventory control of gas cylinders takes on a special significance due to the safety issues involved with their maintenance and testing. Whether they are to be used in a sterile, medical environment or on a welder's mobile service truck, they must be able to withstand tremendous pressures and rough handling.

Feature: Watson Label Products has developed a label that is up to this task. Two features make Watson Label Products' labels unique. The polyester base material is impervious to ultraviolet light and temperature extremes. Oil, grease, solvents, caustic cleaners and acids have no effect on it. The label is 5 mils thick, so it won't flag in high-pressure washes. The bar code image is further protected by a 1 mil clear polyester laminating film.

In addition, the Watson Label Products label is a crescent shape, which allows it to conform to the curved shoulder of the cylinder. Initial application of the label is crucial to its long-term survival and wrinkles and gaps can cause failure. This curved label matches the curve of the cylinder so application is easy and wrinkles and gaps are less of a problem.

Advantage: Cylinders must be tested regularly and maintained properly -- a daunting task. Automatic data collection, using bar codes to uniquely identify each cylinder, is the surest and most cost-effective method to track testing and maintenance of cylinders. The bar code label that is the foundation of this system must be as tough as the environment in which the cylinders live.

And Now ... Color: The most exciting change in years has come to Watson Label Products. Our new digital photocolor imaging process has brought with it the option of color. Our customers are excited to learn that this method of color imaging does not include all of the preparation costs as per-color costs usually associated with traditional printing. This is truly a digital system; fast and high quality. Once more, the bar codes far exceed the quality of any other imaging method.

Benefit: Watson Label Products' gas cylinder label not only makes it possible to do the regular maintenance on all cylinders in the inventory, but it also helps ensure fast, accurate billing and record keeping. Delivery of full cylinders and pick up of empty cylinders are verified by the driver. With a complete data collection system, lost inventory and its costs can be virtually eliminated.
